Illusion of Freedom

I feel that I have been fortunate, as a result of a controlling destiny, which pulled me away from the mass thinking, and directed me towards an  experience which demonstrates the benefits of moving away from materialism.

Society has been in the ever tightening-grip of materialism for quite some time. The one benefit generated by this materialism has been the colossal improvement in the ability to communicate, across nations, and languages.

The internet has made it possible for a critical mass of  reasonably intelligent people who have obtained a reasonable amount of success in the material world, to be able to communicate together.

This new-found freedom has created widely differing varieties of thought. Present day life is moving faster than  ever before, as a result of the urgent natural necessity for this variety of thought to be assimilated, categorised, understood, used, and taught.

Most of us can see that the ways of the world have gone sadly awry, but few can contemplate how we can possibly rectify the situation, because we have no experience of an acceptable and suitable alternative.

Whenever there is to be a significant lifestyle change, there are always a few pioneers. These pioneers report back their findings, and the masses decide whether to follow, or whether to remain.

Once a group of pioneers finds an alternative paradigm that is in all ways superior to the present paradigm, then the flood gates open and everyone strives for the new life.

While ever this striving is producing satisfactory results, then there is no interest in looking at further pioneering ideas.

But once the first ideas begin to stagnate, then new paths are sought.

The "modern era" has been an important evolutionary stage that has advanced mankind beyond savagery, and has introduced a  style of behaviour which is commonly acceptable to the huge majority. The later developing countries have accept this common behaviour and have now themselves developed a critical mass of citizens who are able to educate their less fortunate brothers. Another way of looking at this is to say that an international form of manners has been adopted, which is understood by the leaders of each nation, such that they can now spend time in each others company without being revolted by unfamiliar behaviour.

The genetic breeding of mankind has naturally advanced to a mix of nature and technology which provides greater freedom for the soul. We no longer have to dedicate most of our time in the act of hunting for food, which gives us greater time to be dedicated to other things.

This is natural evolution, from body, to mind, and from mind to spirit.

No matter which nation's history we study, we can see that the old times were hard times, with the chances of survival for a full term being far lower than they are today. While there are mythical stories of ancient beings surviving in the same body for hundreds of years, there is no person alive today who appears to be claiming such a feat.
